The body of a man who was discovered tied and burnt inside a car in the Emmasdale neighbourhood of Lusaka this month has been identified by police.
Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) testing was used to identify Wilson Kumwenda, the victim, using samples from his siblings, Fotch and Grace Kumwenda.
Authorities were notified earlier this month that a man had been bound and burnt outside of a car.
Since the perpetrator or perpetrators of the horrible crime are still at large, police have promised that investigations into the incident are still ongoing.
Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga confirmed the identification and offered the victim’s family her condolences.
On March 15, 2025, a postmortem examination was carried out, and forensic specialists obtained DNA samples from the purported biological siblings of the deceased to identify them.
